QUARTERFINALS - Day One

The United States advanced to the semifinals with a 1-0 victory over rival Norway at Foxboro Stadium courtesy tally by former Rochester Raven Abby Wambach. Fellow Group A member Sweden advanced with a 2-1 victory over Brazil.

USA 1 :: 0 Norway
The United States downed rival Norway, the only nation with a winning record against the US, with a header in the 24th minute from Wambach, who was dominant in the first half, on a free kick from Cat Reddick. Former Delaware Genie Kristine Lilly also proved to be a regular threat in the attack. The US will face the winner of the Germany-Russia match Thursday night.
