ATLANTA, GA -- The Atlanta Silverbacks announced first-year W-League coach Keith Jones will return for a second campaign in 2008 after leading the club to the W-League Championship match in 2007.

Just three seasons after the Atlanta Silverbacks launched a USL W-League franchise, the Atlanta Silverbacks Women have become a dominating force in the league both on and off the field.

On the field, the Silverbacks advanced to the 2007 W-League Championship match, winning a Central Conference and Atlantic Division title along the way. The team fell just shy of playoff qualification in the first two years, but in 2007 the Silverbacks went 12-3-1 and made numerous franchise records. The Silverbacks went 5-0-1 at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium, joining just five other teams in the entire W-League to remain undefeated at home.

Head Coach Keith Jones led the team throughout the successful season.

"We’re happy to have Keith back for another year," commented Silverbacks’ W-League Executive Director Laura Fedrigo. "He did a great job last season in his first year with the team and we’re looking forward to bringing home a championship this time around."

Off the field, the United Soccer Leagues recognized the Atlanta Silverbacks as the W-League Organization of the Year - the highest honors for any W-League franchise. The Silverbacks received the award at the USL’s Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner in Tampa, FL.

"We feel we’ve made great progress since starting the franchise in 2005 and we’re looking forward to the 2008 season," said Silverbacks’ President and CEO Stephen Pratten. "Both players and staff have worked hard to put a quality product on the field for our Atlanta fans and I’m very pleased that hard work has been recognized at the league level."
