Ottawa dominates Renegades 6-0
Only second win against two-time champs for Fury

OTTAWA, ONT -- The Ottawa Fury (North Central Division) defeated the Boston Renegades (New England Division) 6-0 to improve its W-League record to 5-0-0 for 15 team points.

Boston's record falls to 3-2-0 for 9 team points.  Both teams are in first place in their respective divisions.  The Fury now lead the entire Northern Conference in goals scored with 30, two more than the New Jersey Wildcats (Northeast Division) with 28 goals scored.

The match was played in front of 1,000 plus fans at Carleton University's Keith Harris Stadium.

The Fury who had previously only defeated the Renegades in last year's North East Championship Match, 3-2, came out strong and controlled the match from opening whistle. 

The Fury opened the scoring at the 19th minute on Rhian Wilkinson's fourth goal of the season. Ottawa continued to push and Kelly Parker scored her team leading seventh goal of the season two minutes later.  The route was on as Amy Vermeulen, scored her second of the season at the 22nd minute, giving Ottawa three goals in a three minute span. 

The Fury ended the first half with a penalty kick awarded for rough play in the box at the 44th minute.  Coach Frank LoFranco called on veteran Diana Matheson, who scored her second of the season to end the first half at 4-0.

In the second half, Ottawa continue to take the play to Boston and scored twice more on goals by Vermeulen, at the 57th minute, and Parker, on a break away at the 86th minute, to complete the victory and shutout over the Boston Renegades, 6-0.

Leisha Alcia earned her fifth straight victory in the Fury net, making three saves to earn her fourth shutout of the young W-League season.  Alcia now sports a goals against average of 0.40.

The Fury will now travel to Northern Ontario to face the Sudbury Canadians (Saturday, June 19th) and to Hogtown to face the Toronto Inferno (Sunday, June 20th) between returning home to Keith Harris Stadium to face the Montreal Extreme, on Wednesday, June 23rd, at 6:00PM.
