FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - University of Richmond products Emily Dale and Melissa Pacheco are the latest returnees to the Fredericksburg Impact for the 2013 W-League season. In 2012, both players had pivotal roles in the Impact improving their win total by four games from 2011, also winning the first Commonwealth Cup for Fredericksburg.

Dale, a forward from Middlesburg, Va., played in all 12 games in 2012. The former Richmond Spider tallied three points on a goal and an assist while taking 25 shots, ranking second on the Impact roster.

In her career at the University of Richmond from 2008-11, Dale totaled eight goals with 12 assists while taking 128 shots.

Also returning for her second season for the Impact is goalkeeper Pacheco from Shawnee, KS. In 2012, Pacheco was tied for wins with three and led the team with two shutouts. She had 36 saves on 89 shots faced.

From 2008-11, Pacheco started 44 of 48 games in goal for Richmond with a goals-against average 1.01, 241 saves and 11 shutouts. As a senior in 2011, Pacheco tallied a team-high 1,123 minutes, a career-high 11 saves against Penn State and was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10.

Head Coach of the Spiders Peter Albright remembers his former pupils and knows what they brought to his team.

"Emily was a much loved teammate," Albright said. She always worked hard and cared so much for the team. She was one of the fastest and most dynamic players ever at the University of Richmond and 'Checo' was a record-setting goalkeeper. She worked hard to become one of the top keepers in the country. She had 'big save' capability, and was a real student of the game"

The Impact start their season on May 11 as they travel to Virginia Beach for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Fredericksburg will open up its home schedule on May 27 as the Washington Spirit Reserves visit the Fredericksburg Field House.
