Waterloo, Ont. – K-W United FC is pleased to announce the signings of Canadian forward Emily Brown and midfielder Emily Adamic.
Brown, a 5-foot-8 forward who has played the past two seasons for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, is a homegrown player from Waterloo Minor Soccer Club. In her two seasons with the Golden Hawks she has been named a CIS First Team All-Canadian, the OUA West Rookie of the Year and OUA West MVP.
She also led the Golden Hawks to back-to-back appearances at the CIS National Championships, scoring 24 goals during her two seasons.
“I’m thrilled to join K-W United FC’s W-League team,” said the sophomore striker. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent my hometown and test myself against such strong competition.”
“I’ve admired Emily’s game at the collegiate level for some time,” Head Coach Brett Mosen said. “She brings energy to the forward line and has a natural ability to score goals.”
Adamic, a 5-7 midfielder from Edmonton, Alberta just completed her first season with the Memphis Tigers of the NCAA. The Canadian standout is a product of the Canadian Soccer Assocation’s National Training Centre and in 2011 lead her club team, Victoria Soccer Club, to a Provincial Championship gold medal and a bronze at the National Championships.
“I'm excited to play for K-W United FC,” Adamic said. “The high level of soccer will be challenging, competitive, and fun, and it will prepare me well for my university season next fall. I get to play with a few of my Memphis teammates as well which is great.”
“Emily is coming off a strong season with the University of Memphis” Mosen added. “She is a great addition to our inaugural W-League squad in K-W.”
K-W United FC’s women’s team plays their season opener at home on Wednesday, May 22 at University Stadium in Waterloo against the London Gryphons. Game time is 7 p.m. Season tickets are available now at www.kwunitedfc.com.
