COLUMBIA, S.C. – Carolina Elite Cobras Head Coach Sandy Burris has added the duties of general manager to her responsibilities for the second-year team.
“Sandy is the major reason the organization was able to accomplish the goals it set in 2012,” Cobras President and Owner Ewell Gordon said. “Sandy has proven that she knows first-hand what’s necessary to construct a winning organization on and off the field. She has not only taken a young organization and infused it with the right people and associations to insure success off the field, she has also expertly added pieces to the team on the field to insure that we will compete in 2013.”
“We are extremely happy with what Sandy has done and her assuming this additional responsibility allows ownership to focus on the big picture objectives of the organization with confidence,” Vice President Teresa Gordon added.
In addition to Burris’ added responsibilities, Cindy Hunt joins the Cobras operation in a consulting capacity but will work closely with the staff to further organize business operations and finalize the framework for future operations.
“Hunt, is an experienced and resourceful business woman that I am excited to have working with our organization,” Gordon said. “She is an accomplished leader, advisor, and well-organized strategist who has a proven track record and the acquisition of her services immediately raises the level of our operations.”
“The addition of Cindy to the Cobras organization has given us a chance to become a true business, not just a soccer team,” Burris added. “Her ability to involve the business community and the avenues that have been opened in the short time she has been with us has taken this organization in a direction that excites us all.
"For me, the way she is bringing in charitable organizations and involving us in the community of Greenville is crucial in defining what the Cobras stand for."
The Cobras were the W-League 2012 Rookie Franchise of the year and will again compete in the W-League’s Southeast Division in 2013. For more information about the Cobras go to www.carolinaelitecobras.com.
