LITTLETON, Co. – The Colorado Rush Women are pleased to announce their signing of Dayle Colpitts, pending USSF approval. Colpitts was selected to compete in the 2012 CONCACAF U-20 Championships held in Panama, representing Canada.
This is the second year that Colpitts has been called up to Canada’s U-20 team. The goalkeeper helped her squad to three wins and two losses at the CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship to finish fourth in 2010. Although not qualifying for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, in five games, Canada scored six goals and only allowed three goals against.
Colpitts is currently at Virginia Tech. She helped the Hokies match their best program finish this past season, as Tech made a run all the way to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada native recorded seven shutouts during the season, while setting a new Tech record for a single season.
Colorado Rush Women, Head Coach Erik Bushey expressed his excitement to add Colpitts to the roster.
“The position of goalkeeper is incredibly important," Bushey said. "As much as any player on the field, this position can mean the difference between three points or one point from a game, or a playoff spot or an early end to the season. To bring in a player like Dayle who has represented her country, and who even though is a young player has gained such valuable experience…well, it is a great and exciting addition to our team.”
Join the Rush for their home opener on Thursday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Valor Christian High School.
