Santa Clarita, Ca. – The Santa Clarita Blue Heat FC is pleased to announce the addition of forward Nadia Link to the 2012 team. As a junior for Long Beach State Link was named to the 2011 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Women’s Division I All America Team (third team).
Playing in the Big West Conference Link became the third All-American in Long Beach State history and the first to win the honor from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She was also honored as the Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year, in addition to a first-team All-Big West and NSCAA, All–West Region selection.
Long Beach State had its best season in program history and Link played a key role in the team’s success in 2011 as she was responsible for leading the Big West Conference with 16 goals, 10 assists and 42 points. A native of Rowland Heights, California and Walnut High School graduate, Link was ranked among the top 15 in the nation in goal scoring and assists. Link was invited to train with the U-23 United States National Team last October and is currently listed in the U-23 National Team Player pool.
“I am very pleased that Nadia chose to play with the Blue Heat,” said Santa Clarita Head Coach Charles Martinez. “She has been a tremendous asset to Long Beach State this past year and I look forward to working with such a dedicated athlete.”
