JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The FC JAX Destroyers today announced the coaching staff for the organization’s Women’s team, which will compete in the United Soccer League’s W-League this year for the first time.
Marc Osterberger will be the club's head coach. Osterberger played NCAA Division I soccer for Radford University for four years. He was head coach for the Maryland Olympic Development Program from 2002 to 2005. Osterberger was also assistant coach at Towson University from 1999 to 2005 and is the technical director for the Jacksonville Youth Soccer Club girls’ team.
Dave Simeone will be assistant coach and technical advisor. Simeone was an age group coach for the United States’ Olympic Development Program from 1983 to 2005. He was appointed to the United States Soccer Federation’s National Coaching Staff in 1989. Simeone was the assistant women’s coach at the University of Georgia and coached at several other colleges as well.
The United Soccer Leagues W-League is the highest level of women’s soccer in the North America. This year, there will be 30 teams across three regional conferences. The Destroyers will open their 12-game regular season against the Charlotte Lady Eagles on May 19th.
