W-League Team of the Week
Pali's Julie Bukh Player of the Week

USL News Release

July 22, 2010

United Soccer Leagues announced the W-League Team of the Week today, with Julie Bukh of the Pali Blues being named Player of the Week. The Danish international turned in the clutch performance of the season, putting two goals past the Colorado Rush to help seal a 4-0 win for the Blues in the regular season finale for both teams. Bukh’s huge performance helped propel the two-time defending W-League champion Pali Blues into the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

As W-League teams pushed for playoff spots, other players produced notable performances last week. Former Player of the Week, Omolyn Davis, scored twice against Northern Virginia, helping her Washington Freedom Futures into the W-League playoffs once again. Allysha Chapman ensured the Toronto Lady Lynx would see playoff action with a goal and solid defensive effort against Hamilton.
Atlanta also locked up a playoff berth last week, with forward Nkese Udoh netting the game winner against rival Charlotte.

In Northeast action, Angela DeSumma and Yui Miwa were on fire last week. DeSumma put in two goals and added an assist for the New Jersey Wildcats and Miwa had two goals and two assists in a two-match spread.

W-League scoring champion Kelly Parker and assist leader Veronica Boquete of the Buffalo Flash showed why they led the league’s offensive categories. Parker put up the gaudy numbers of seven goals and three assists in three matches last week. Spanish international Boquete scored four of her own and assisted on six.

Sue Weber continued her strong season with a goal, assist, and a clean sheet win against New Jersey. Fellow defender Emily Zurrer of Seattle scored an important goal as well, netting the equalizer versus Vancouver.

In the back, Carianne Betts of the Cleveland Internationals had a massive match against Kalamazoo, making 11 saves in the clean sheet win.
