Super-20 Champion, Dominick Bucci to lead Rangers

New Jersey Rangers Press Release - www.njrangersfc.com

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

FLANDERS, NJ – The New Jersey Rangers are proud to announce the addition of a USL W-League team to their organization for participation in the upcoming 2010 season.

“With the recent success of the WPS, we felt this was a great opportunity to not only compliment or PDL team, but also highlight some of the great talent that has come through the area over the past few years,” said New Jersey Rangers PDL Head Coach, Andy Rotsides.

The Rangers W-League team will be comprised of players from the Northern New Jersey area.

“We have identified close to 60 players from the area that are playing for NCAA Division I programs and have had a contributing role on their teams this past season,” added Rotsides. “Northern New Jersey has a rich tradition in both youth and women’s soccer programs. This W-league team will give these talented players the opportunity to excel at a very high level of play and improve their skills to continue on to the next level.”

Joining Rotsides on the sidelines will be Dominick Bucci.

“Dominick has worked with many of the top players in the area over the past few years,” Rangers General Manager, Aaron Balber said. “We were very excited when he decided to be involved. When I made my wish list of players back in September, I never imagined that Dominick coached many of them, but he was able to reach out and get many of these players to commit for our first year.”

“I feel Andy and Dominick have a great deal of experience,” added Balber. “They give us the chance to be very successful right out of the gate.”

The United Soccer Leagues (USL) will announce full season details and schedules.

Rotsides feels that being involved in the W-League will be a great advantage to the club.

“The USL provides the best organized format in the country today for the development of tomorrow’s professionals,” he said. “We know the competition will be very good with teams like the New Jersey Wildcats, Hudson Valley Quickstrike FC and Washington Freedom. We are looking to put the best talent we can on the field to compete.”

The Rangers will play their six scheduled home games at Morris Catholic High School in Denville beginning in May.

“The tryout process has exceeded our expectations by far,” concluded Balber. “The quality of players that have come out has been very encouraging. We are receiving more phone calls each day. So far we have looked at over 50 players from around the area and we hope to begin signing up players before they all head back to college in a few weeks.”

About the W-League
The original and longest-standing women’s league in North America, the W-League is USL’s highest level of women’s soccer in the United States and Canada. It is also the fourth highest women’s soccer league in the world. The 2009 USL W-League campaign featured 37 teams in four regional conferences playing 12 - 14 regular season matches. In addition to the league featuring international and professional stars, elite collegiate players have the opportunity to compete on amateur teams in the league while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The league is recognized throughout the world for providing elite competition for female players, while providing affordable family entertainment for fans across North America.
