COLORADO - Formerly the Fort Collins Force, the name Colorado Force FC "reflects the expansion of our team's geographic reach and embraces our growing audience of fans and participants," said Colorado Force owner Amy Snider.

The Force’s business office will remain in Fort Collins and the Loveland Sports Park (near the intersection of I-25 and U.S. Highway 34) is its home field. The name change is effective immediately.

Pfankuch contributes to Tar Heels title
North Carolina edges Notre Dame for NCAA crown

Emmalie Pfankuch, a dynamic scoring threat for the Colorado Force F.C. in 2007 and 2008, won an NCAA soccer championship Sunday as a member of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. North Carolina scored a late goal to beat Notre Dame 2-1 in Cary, N.C.

Pfankuch, a freshman at North Carolina and a former Fort Collins High School star, saw action in the championship game as a substitute forward. With the win, North Carolina claimed its 19th NCAA title in the 27-year history of the tournament. It’s Pfankuch’s second national title this year. Last summer she was part of a U.S. Youth Soccer National Champion with the Lakewood-based Rush Nike U-18 team.

Marshall helps U.S. U-20 National Team top North Korea, 2-1

Nikki Marshall, a member of the Colorado Force F.C.’s 2008 squad, is coming home to Colorado as a member of Under-20 Women’s World Champions. The U.S. side topped North Korea 2-1 to win the Under-20 Women’s World Cup title on Sunday in Santiago, Chile.

Marshall is Niwot resident, who played in the midfield for the Force last summer, helped to anchor the Americans’ defense as a central defender. Marshall started and played the entire championship match, which was televised nationally on ESPN2. At the conclusion of the match, the ESPN2 commentator described Marshall as a “rock” on the U.S. side’s back line. Marshall plays collegiately at the University of Colorado.
