CLEVELAND, OH -- Former Shaker Heights High soccer star and current US youth and senior international striker Danesha Adams has signed to play for the Cleveland Internationals.
Born in Bellflower, Calif., Adams played her final three seasons of high school soccer at Shaker Heights before returning to the West Coast and starring for UCLA.
As a sophomore for the Bruins, she scored 21 goals and led the Pac-10 with 46 points on the way to being named second-team All-American. Last fall, she tallied 12 goals and four assists as UCLA finished 21-4.
Adams was a member of the U.S. team that won the 2006 CONCACAF Under-20 Final Women’s Qualifying Tournament in Mexico and helped led the team to a third-place finish at the FIFA U-20 World Championship with three goals while playing in four of the team's six games in Russia last August and September.
Adams also recently made her first appearance with the senior Women's National Team, playing her first game in a 10-0 win over Chinese Taipai last October and registering an assist in her first cap. She was also named to the CONCACAF Gold Cup squad, but did not see any action.
The Internationals are home this Friday (June 8) at 6:30 p.m. against the Minnesota Lightning at the Copley Road Soccer Complex.
